PLACE PIXELS
  • another world map
  • no cooldown
  • free to paint

Same map. No cooldown.

If what you liked was painting your own town one square at a time, this does the same thing without the wait: a shared map of the real world in ten-meter squares, and a wallet you spend from instead of one pixel every 30 seconds. A whole building goes down in one save.

  • 5,000 pixels in one save
  • No account for your first 50 pixels
  • Painting over fresh work costs more

The same map, without the wait

One shared map of the real world, painted in squares ten meters on a side. Zoom in anywhere and the grid appears over the street, so the thing you paint has an address rather than a coordinate.

One square is 10 meters on a side, about the footprint of a small house. The outlined cell is one pixel. A city block takes a few hundred.

The wallet, instead of a pool

Instead of one pixel every 30 seconds, you hold a wallet and spend from it. Staging a whole building and committing it in one save is the normal way to work here.

A new wallet holds
200pixels, capped at 300 until you level
It refills

Overwriting is priced by age

Fresh work by somebody else is expensive to erase and decays back to the base cost as it ages. Your own pixels are always cheap.

What is already therePixels
Empty ground1
Your own pixel, at any age1
Someone else's, under 1 hour old3
Someone else's, under a day old2
Someone else's, older than a day1
A landmark5
New accounts

A new account can overwrite at most 100 of other players' pixels a day until it is 48 hours old and has placed 500. Empty ground and your own work never count toward it.

Finished work does not stay frozen

A square untouched for 365 days starts to desaturate, reaching 20 percent of the way to gray after 3 years. It is visual only, landmarks never weather, and refreshing a whole piece is free.

The rest of the field, in short

None of the four does what this does, and only one of them paints the real world at all.

  • bplace is the other world map, on an OpenStreetMap base with a pool of 200 and a level curve on top of it. Compared row by row.
  • pxls.space is one fixed rectangle with no geography, closed and replaced every few months. Compared row by row.
  • pixelplace.io is a tool for making canvases, with a free tier of one public 150 by 150 board. Compared row by row.
  • Our World of Pixels is an almost infinite blank canvas drawn in real time, with no cooldown and no geography. Compared row by row.

Start on your own street

Repainting your town sounds like work until you price it. A batch here holds 5,000 pixels, so the street that took a week of30-second cooldowns is one afternoon, and the building you never finished because the pool ran dry goes down in a single save.

  1. Find your street

Search a place or share your location, then zoom in to 15. The grid appears over the buildings, each square 10 meters across.

  2. Pick a color and paint

No cooldown between pixels. Stage as many as you like and commit them in one save, so a whole building goes down at once instead of over a week.

  3. Sign in only when you want to keep it

Your first 50 pixels go down before any of that, and they survive making an account. Google or Discord, no password.

Common questions

What are the alternatives to wplace?

Place Pixels is the closest: a shared world map painted in ten-meter squares. pxls.space and pixelplace.io are fixed canvases rather than maps, so your own town is something you draw rather than somewhere you go.

Can I move my wplace art over?

No. Separate sites, separate pixels, no shared account. Repainting it here is one save rather than a week of waiting, since a batch can carry 5,000 pixels.

Is Place Pixels free?

Yes. Pixel Plus refills your wallet every 10 seconds instead of 20 and raises capacity, and it changes nothing about what counts: leagues, city standings and alliance standings all count unboosted placement.

Why would I paint here instead?

Three things wplace does not do: a save that places 5,000 pixels at once, a price on painting over somebody's fresh work, and events with end times so there is a reason to come back once your street is done.

Work people finished on the map and submitted to the gallery, frozen as it was at the moment they sent it.
