Is wplace down right now? Live wplace.live status

Our server asks wplace.live and its game server directly and shows what came back. If it says up and the site will not load for you, the cause is closer to you. Either way, the same idea is open here: a shared map of the real world, with a wallet instead of a cooldown.

  • 5,000 pixels in one save
  • No account for your first 50 pixels
  • Nothing you paint here resets
Live checkup
wplace is up

The site and its game server both answered. If it still will not load for you, the cause is between you and wplace.

Checked . Rechecked at most once a minute, so reload in a minute for a newer one.

last 10 checks, oldest first

From 2026-10-14 02:32 UTC to 2026-10-15 01:10 UTC: 10 up.

From this server since it last restarted. A check runs only when someone loads this page, at most once a minute, so a gap is a quiet stretch rather than an outage.

Up here, but not loading for you?

Then the problem is between you and wplace. Three checks, fastest first. If wplace loads after any of them, you have found it.

  1. Switch to phone data

Phone data instead of wifi rules out your router, your ISP, and a captive portal in one move.

  2. Open a private window

It disables most extensions. Content blockers and script managers are the usual cause when one browser works and another does not.

  3. Change your DNS resolver

If the address will not resolve, your resolver has a stale or blocked record for it and the site itself is fine.

Your wplace pixels are safe

An outage stops the site serving. It does not reach back into what has been painted, and refreshing repeatedly does not bring it back sooner.

The same map, without the wait

Zoom in anywhere on Earth and a grid of ten-meter squares appears over the street. Instead of one pixel every 30 seconds, you hold a wallet and spend from it, so a whole building goes down in one save of up to 5,000 pixels.

Before you sign up
50pixels, and they survive making an account

Painting over somebody's fresh work costs more than painting on empty ground, and your own pixels are always cheap to change. Every difference from wplace, row by row.

Start on your own street

  1. Find your street

Search a place or share your location, then zoom in to 15. The grid appears over the buildings, each square 10 meters across.

  2. Pick a color and paint

No cooldown between pixels. Stage as many as you like and commit them in one save, so a whole building goes down at once instead of over a week.

  3. Sign in only when you want to keep it

Your first 50 pixels go down before any of that, and they survive making an account. Google or Discord, no password.

What the check measures

Two requests from our server, side by side, each with a 5 second limit.

  • Site. The wplace.live page. Any answer below HTTP 500 counts as up; a 500 or worse, or no answer, counts as down.
  • Game server. The health endpoint at backend.wplace.live. Up only when it answers that it is up.

Both up reads as up, one as partly up, and neither as down. The result is held for a minute, so everyone who loads this page inside the same minute sees the same check and the same time. After that, the last result stays up while the next check runs, so the time beside it is what tells you how fresh it is.

What it cannot tell you

One server cannot see a regional failure, or anything between you and wplace. If the check says up and the site will not load for you, the difference is your network, your DNS, or an extension.

Common questions

Is wplace down right now?

The live check at the top of this page answers that. It asks wplace.live and its game server directly, at most once a minute, and shows what came back with the time in UTC.

Why is wplace so slow or laggy?

A shared canvas slows down when many people paint at once. If it is slow on one network and fine on another, the network is the cause rather than the site.

Does wplace delete my art when it goes down?

No. An outage stops the site serving. It does not reach back into what has been painted, and placed pixels come back with the site.

Can I move my wplace art to Place Pixels?

No. Separate sites, separate pixels, no shared account. Repainting it here is one save rather than a week of cooldowns, since a batch can carry 5,000 pixels.

Is Place Pixels free?

Yes. Pixel Plus refills your wallet every 10 seconds instead of 20 and raises capacity, and nothing you can buy reaches the standings.

Work people finished on the map and submitted to the gallery, frozen as it was at the moment they sent it.
