- one shared map
- no paid advantage
- free to paint
One shared map. Nothing sold changes it.
pixelplace.io is a tool for making canvases and sells reach on the ones it hosts. Here there is one map everybody shares, and money buys speed and cosmetics rather than anything that touches the canvas.
- Standings count unboosted placement only
- No paid color advantage anywhere
- No account for your first 50 pixels
| Place Pixels | pixelplace.io | |
|---|---|---|
| The board | The real world, in ten-meter squares | Many separate canvases, most of them made by players, plus a shared Pixel World War map |
| Cost of a pixel | A wallet of 200 that refills 1 every 20 seconds | A 5 second cooldown on the free tier, shortened by premium |
| Your own canvas | No. One map, shared | Yes, set to public, approved players, your guild, or nobody |
| What money buys | Faster refill, more capacity, cosmetics | Shorter cooldown, larger canvases, templates, area protection, more colors |
| Paid advantage | None inside events, and standings count unboosted placement only | 29 colors against 27 on the shared Pixel World War map |
| When it ends | Never. The map is permanent and work weathers rather than resets | Per canvas, at whatever the owner decides |
Where the two designs part
What is money allowed to buy?
Speed and cosmetics, and nothing that touches the canvas. Pixel Plus refills faster and raises capacity; leagues, city standings and alliance standings all count unboosted placement, and event canvases run identical cooldowns for everyone.
Reach. A shorter cooldown, larger canvases, templates, area protection, and 29 colors against 27 on the shared Pixel World War map.
Where is the thing you paint?
Somewhere. A link to a piece opens the map at that spot, because the square has an address.
On a canvas. A blank 150 by 150 board asks what you want to draw and answers nothing about where.
Start on your own street
Protection here is priced rather than sold: overwriting fresh work costs 3 pixels, a landmark 5, and no purchase changes either number.
- Find your street
Search a place or share your location, then zoom in to 15. The grid appears over the buildings, each square 10 meters across.
- Pick a color and paint
No cooldown between pixels. Stage as many as you like and commit them in one save, so a whole building goes down at once instead of over a week.
- Sign in only when you want to keep it
Your first 50 pixels go down before any of that, and they survive making an account. Google or Discord, no password.
Where these numbers come from
Place Pixels figures are the values the game enforces today.
Everything else comes from each project's own site or wiki: wplace.live and its community guidelines for wplace, bplace.art and its in-app chroma store for Better Place, the pxls.space FAQ and wiki for pxls.space, pixelplace.io and the pixelplace wiki for pixelplace.io, ourworldofpixels.com and its community wikis for Our World of Pixels, Wikipedia and Reddit's own announcements for r/place.
Common questions
Can I make my own canvas on Place Pixels?
No. There is one map and everyone paints on it, so the people who see your piece are strangers, not a list you invited.
Is pixelplace.io free?
The free tier gives you a public 150 by 150 canvas with a 5 second cooldown. Changing the cooldown or canvas size, protecting an area, and using templates are premium features.
Which one protects my art?
Here protection is priced rather than sold: overwriting fresh work costs 3 pixels, landmarks cost 5, and no purchase changes either number for anyone. On pixelplace.io area protection is a premium feature.
What is Pixel World War?
pixelplace.io's shared map canvas, where premium accounts get 29 colors against 27 without. Place Pixels has no paid color advantage anywhere.
