Blue Marble

The overlay most guides mean by "the overlay". Template by tile and pixel anchor, a coordinate readout, and the droplet and next-level figures from your own profile.

Wplace Overlay Pro

Overlay with its own converter inside: color-match to the palette, resize, a dots or symbols mode, several overlays at once, and export of an overlay definition when the image is hosted somewhere.

wplace.live Template Manager

Built after Blue Marble by an alliance that wanted more. Names and coordinates are embedded in the exported PNG, a per-color filter for group work, and a jump-to-template button.

Mr. Wplace

A browser extension rather than a userscript. A gallery of templates with layers, image adjustments including dithering, bookmarks, and tile time travel.

What none of them do

Place a pixel. wplace bans automation with an IP ban, and each of these projects draws a guide and stops there. Anything that offers to paint for you is a different kind of tool, and the ban page covers what it costs.

Installing Blue Marble

Install a script manager
Tampermonkey, from your browser's extension store. On Chrome and Edge, turn on developer mode and allow user scripts in the extension's settings.
Install the script
Open the userscript link in the Blue Marble README. Tampermonkey shows the script and an install button.
Load a template
Reload wplace.live, open the Blue Marble panel, choose your PNG and type the anchor as Tl X, Tl Y, Px X, Px Y. The image's top-left pixel lands on that spot. Transparent pixels are skipped.

How does a template get onto the canvas?

Place Pixels

Upload it in the template library. It sits over the map with position, scale, rotation and opacity controls, auto-color picks each pixel's color under the pointer, and one save places up to 5,000 pixels.

Install a script manager and a script, anchor the image by tile and pixel, then place each pixel by hand at one charge every 30 seconds.

Murals here go further: a moderated outline anyone can fill, with completion tracked per cell and each painter credited, which is the progress-tracker and grief-alert half of the overlay ecosystem built into the map.

What is a wplace overlay?

A browser script or extension that draws your template image over the wplace canvas so you can see which color each pixel should be while you paint. It shows; you still place every pixel by hand.

Is Blue Marble allowed on wplace?

Overlays are not bots. wplace bans scripts that place pixels; Blue Marble and the others draw a guide and place nothing, and Blue Marble's README says it will never add auto-placement.

Which wplace overlay is best?

Blue Marble is the one most guides describe and it shows your level and droplets. Overlay Pro and Template Manager add color matching, resizing and several templates at once. Mr. Wplace installs from a browser store without a script manager and works on phones.

How do I install Blue Marble?

Install Tampermonkey in your browser, open the userscript link in the Blue Marble README, confirm the install, then reload wplace.live. On Chrome and Edge, developer mode and user scripts must be enabled in the extension settings.

How do I position a template in an overlay?

By its tile and pixel coordinates: Tl X, Tl Y, Px X, Px Y for the image's top-left corner. Read them off the wplace picker at the spot, or from the coordinates tool here.
