Where they come from
Every placed pixel pays 1. Every level pays 500, and levels come from the pixel count, so the two compound: by level 10 (1,037 pixels) an account has earned 6,037, enough for 3 paid colors if nothing else was bought.
Capacity first, because +5 charges for 500 is permanent and the refill for the same price is gone in 15 minutes. Then the two or three paid colors a piece needs. The flag last, at 20,000.
