- both paint the real world
- both permanent
- free to paint
Same map. 5,000 pixels a save.
Both put a pixel canvas on an OpenStreetMap base, both start you with a pool of 200, and neither one ever resets. What differs is how fast you can spend it: one save here places 5,000 pixels, and painting over somebody's fresh work costs more than painting on empty ground.
- 5,000 pixels in one save
- No account for your first 50 pixels
- Painting over fresh work costs more

How fast does paint come back?
1 every 20 seconds, or 1 every 10 with Pixel Plus.
1 every 15 seconds, raised by leveling or by spending chromas.
Five seconds a pixel is a difference nobody notices after the first hour. How much you can put down in one go decides whether a building takes an afternoon or two weeks.

What painting over someone costs
Fresh work by somebody else is expensive to erase here and gets cheaper as it ages, and your own work is always cheap. bplace does not publish an equivalent rule.
| What is already there | Pixels |
|---|---|
| Empty ground | 1 |
| Your own pixel, at any age | 1 |
| Someone else's, under 1 hour old | 3 |
| Someone else's, under a day old | 2 |
| Someone else's, older than a day | 1 |
| A landmark | 5 |
A new account can overwrite at most 100 of other players' pixels a day until it is 48 hours old and has placed 500. Empty ground and your own work never count toward it.
Start on your own street
Their paint comes back faster. Ours goes down 5,000 at a time, and settling which matters more costs you one click.
- Find your street
Search a place or share your location, then zoom in to 15. The grid appears over the buildings, each square 10 meters across.
- Pick a color and paint
No cooldown between pixels. Stage as many as you like and commit them in one save, so a whole building goes down at once instead of over a week.
- Sign in only when you want to keep it
Your first 50 pixels go down before any of that, and they survive making an account. Google or Discord, no password.
Where these numbers come from
Place Pixels figures are the values the game enforces today.
Everything else comes from each project's own site or wiki: wplace.live and its community guidelines for wplace, bplace.art and its in-app chroma store for Better Place, the pxls.space FAQ and wiki for pxls.space, pixelplace.io and the pixelplace wiki for pixelplace.io, ourworldofpixels.com and its community wikis for Our World of Pixels, Wikipedia and Reddit's own announcements for r/place.
Common questions
Which one lets me paint more in a sitting?
Place Pixels, by a wide margin. One save here places up to 5,000 pixels, so a building goes down in an afternoon instead of over two weeks. Refill rates are close: 1 every 15 seconds there, 1 every 20 here, and 1 every 10 with Pixel Plus.
Can I move my bplace art across?
No. Separate sites, separate pixels, no shared account. Repainting it here is one save rather than a week of waiting, because a batch holds 5,000 pixels.
Do chromas have an equivalent here?
Stardust and Pixel Plus, and they buy speed, capacity and cosmetics. Leagues, city standings and alliance standings all count unboosted placement, and event canvases run identical cooldowns for everyone.
Do I need an account to try it?
Not here. Fifty pixels go down before you sign in and they survive making the account. Signing in is Google or Discord.
