Paint one world, together.

One shared map of the real world in 10-meter squares, painted by strangers who mostly never meet. Murals give them a common outline, alliances give them a common goal, and events give them a common deadline.

  • Every mural cell is credited to the player who filled it
  • Alliances share quests, standings and a meeting point
  • 50 pixels before you make an account

Murals: collaboration without coordination

A mural is a large paint-by-number outline seeded on the map: a landmark, a piece of civic art, an event tie-in. Any player can fill cells, alone, at any hour, and each cell is credited to the player who filled it. You can contribute at 3am with nobody online and come back to find the piece closer to done because of strangers.

Why murals pay more

A mural cell pays double XP and carries extra quest weight, so the best-paying pixel is also the one that builds something bigger than you.

Murals are proposed by players and alliances from uploaded templates and approved by a moderator, so the outline you are filling is something a person chose to put there.

Alliances: a roster and a shared goal

An alliance has a roster, roles, invites, quests and standings, all on the site. It gives a group of painters a common project and a meeting point on the map, and its pixel totals rank on the alliance leaderboard. Joining is optional and nothing on the map requires it.

Cities: the community you are already in

Every placement resolves to the city it lands in, and the leaderboard that matters here is the city one: top ten in your town is winnable in a way a global ladder never is. Painting somewhere makes you part of that somewhere. There is nothing to join.

Events: everyone on the same ground at once

A map open every day spreads people out. Events pull them back together: a yearly canvas in the r/place format, a weekly themed canvas, a spotlight city, and a daily prompt everyone draws from the same subject. A deadline is what turns a thousand solo painters into a crowd.

How to join a piece tonight

  1. Open the map and find a mural

Murals are outlined on the map, and the murals panel lists the open outlines. Pick one in a city you care about.

  2. Fill cells in the outline's colors

The template auto-color picks the right color for each cell as you hover, so filling is fast and hard to get wrong. Every cell you fill is credited to you.

  3. Come back tomorrow

The piece will have moved while you slept. Your profile keeps your mural credits, and the finished mural stays on the map with everyone's name in its history.

Common questions

What is a collaborative pixel art website?

A shared canvas where many people paint one image together, live. Some are free-for-alls in the r/place style. Place Pixels adds structures for working together: community murals anyone can fill, alliances with shared goals, and events that put everyone on the same ground at the same time.

How do I join a project without knowing anyone?

Fill a mural. Murals are large paint-by-number outlines seeded on the map; any player can color cells, every cell is credited to the player who filled it, and a mural cell pays double XP.

Do I have to join a group?

No. Murals credit you individually, city leaderboards count you the moment you place a pixel somewhere, and alliances are optional. Nothing requires a membership.

Is it free?

Yes. Painting spends a wallet that refills over time, and your first 50 pixels go down before you make an account.

Work people finished on the map and submitted to the gallery, frozen as it was at the moment they sent it.
